Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield has been added to this weekend’s Pro Bowl roster for the second year in a row. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is dealing with an injury that will keep him out and Mayfield in. There are four Bucs on the roster this year - left tackle Tristan Wirfs, defensive tackle Vita Vea and receiver Mike Evans.
The City of Treasure Island will close the Community Development Department Thursday in an effort to get a handle on their permit backlog. For now, the city has more than 1,900 permit applications and has issued about 1,000 permits. That will leave another 950 to be processed.
Keep the beads out the Bay and the Florida Aquarium will reward you. Through February 5th, collect a five-gallon bucket or more of discarded beads and redeem at The Florida Aquarium for one (1) half-price ticket for each bucket collected. From the Aquarium, the beads will be donated to the MacDonald Training Center, an innovator in educational, vocational, residential and employment services to people with disabilities. The Center sorts the beads and resells them for next year’s Gasparilla. Gasparilla beads cannot be traditionally recycled, so the community’s best option for reducing waste at this event is the reduction and reuse of the beads.
There’s long awaited news from the Don Cesar which has been closed since suffering hurricane damage. The Don CeSar is about to open, but there’s no firm opening date yet. The iconic hotel press release says it will be sometime in this first quarter. There was plenty to repair after the hurricanes, and the hotel’s amenities will open in phases.
