On this day in music history, The Commodores started a five-week run at #1 on the UK singles chart with Three Times A Lady.

Just before this, on August 12th of 1978 the song went to #1 on the US charts.

Lionel Richie wrote the song about his love for his wife, mother and grandmother.. how sweet and beautiful!
